Management

VLP is currently managed by the Company's Board of Directors comprised of Chairman/CEO Gil Evans, co-founder David Milich and directors Florian Schodel, Yemi Onakunle and Robert Blatt.

Gilbert Evans (Interim CEO, Director and Chairman of the Board): Mr. Evans comes to VLP with extensive experience in the equipment leasing and financing industry managing loan portfolios up to $25 million. He currently holds the position of Senior Vice President at California Community Bank.

David Milich, Ph.D. (Director and Founder): Dr. Milich is a world-renowned immunologist with extensive experience in hepatitis B virus research. He has published in excess of 150 peer reviewed articles and has 9 issued patents. His expertise in virology and cellular immunology is a highly valuable asset for VLP's clinical development programs. Dr. Milich is also President and CEO of VRISD. Prior to starting VLP Biotech, Dr. Milich also co-founded Immune Complex Corporation and was involved in that company's acquisition by EVAX Technologies in December 2000.

Florian Schodel, M.D., Ph.D. (Director): Dr. Schodel brings with him extensive experience as a pharmaceutical executive most recently as VP in Vaccine Clinical Research-Merck Research Laboratories (MRL). During his tenure at Merck he was responsible for world wide clinical development and licensure of novel vaccines/vaccine combinations as well as the clinical assessment of vaccine targets.

Robert Blatt (Director): Mr. Blatt serves as director on the VLP Board. He contributes extensive financial experience to the VLP board including acquisition and credit line negotiations. He is currently the CFO/Controller of Chicken of the Sea, a company with annual gross sales in excess of $400 million.

Yemi Onakunle, Ph.D., MBA (Director): Dr. Onakunle brings to the VLP Board extensive experience in technology commercialization and business development within the biopharmaceutical industry.

David Whitacre, Ph.D. (Vice President of Scientific Operations): Dr. Whitacre comes to VLP from the UCSD Moores Cancer Center in La Jolla, California. His recent work includes the construction of chimeric genes and engineering the adenovirus vector for exogenous gene delivery to mammalian cells. Dr. Whitacre is also an Assistant Professor at VRISD.

Darrell Peterson, Ph.D. (Founder): Dr. Peterson is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Biology and Genetics at the University of Notre Dame and has enjoyed a distinguished career studying the structure and functions of viral proteins. He is considered an international expert in the expression, isolation and purification of hepatitis core proteins.
